We are delighted to announce that Anna Kobrock, PhD candidate in Biomedical Sciences at ICBAS – Instituto de Ciências Biomédicas Abel Salazar, University of Porto, and member of Fardilhas Lab, has been awarded a highly competitive Fulbright grant, with the support of Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT). 🏆
A Multidisciplinary Doctoral Project
Anna’s doctoral research is jointly developed across several leading institutions:
BoneLab – Laboratory for Bone Metabolism and Regeneration (FMDUP, University of Porto)
iBiMED – Institute of Biomedicine (University of Aveiro)
Molecular Skeletal Biology Lab (Lund University, Sweden)
Her project is supervised by Pedro Gomes, Margarida Fardilha, and Paul Bourgine, and explores how biopeptide-based strategies can modulate pulp biological functionality, aiming to advance the field of regenerative dentistry.
Research Abroad at the University of Michigan
As a Visiting Student Researcher at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, Anna will join Prof. Marco C. Bottino’s group. Her work will focus on designing a scaffold-based approach that combines dental pulp stem cells with advanced melt electrowritten (MEW) scaffolds. The ultimate goal is to create a regenerative construct capable of restoring damaged dental pulp tissue — opening innovative possibilities for endodontics and beyond. 🦷
A Proud Achievement
This Fulbright award is a significant recognition of Anna’s scientific talent and dedication. We are proud to see her represent BoneLab – Laboratory for Bone Metabolism and Regeneration, FMDUP, University of Porto, and LAQV-REQUIMTE abroad, contributing to the international visibility of Portuguese science. 🌍✨
We look forward to following her journey and the impact of her research in the field of regenerative medicine.
