Daniela Patrício

About

Holds a Bachelor's degree in Biology and a Master'd degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology both from the Department of Biology, University of Aveiro (Aveiro, Potugal). Her master thesis untitled "Implementation of mammalian two-hybrid system for highthroughput drug screening” was developed in the Institute for Biomedicine under the supervision of Doctor Margarida Fardilha and Doctor Ana Sofia Guimarães. Recently, she had a research fellow position in the project “RUNNING away from prostate cancer: WALKING throught the molecular basis of physical activity”, with the reference PTDC/DTP-DES/6077/2014. Currently, she is developing her PhD work in the Fardilha's lab under the supervision of Prof. Margarida Fardilha and Prof. João Mano.  Her PhD project, entitled “Organoid technology meets male fertility: an innovative strategy to study and modulate sperm function” aims to develop an in vivo 3D epididymal organoid culture able to mimic the epididymis and blood epididymal barrier (BEB) functions to study the role of this organ on sperm physiology and as a tool for pharmacological testing.

Her research interests comprise high throughput techniques to identify protein-protein interactions related with the male reproductive system.
